Dickson, 100 January 18th, 2019 NAPLES —Havelock A. Dickson, 100, of Naples, Maine, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, after abrief stay at the Maine Veterans' Home in Scarborough, Maine.He was born in Nova Scotia,Canada, to the late Hedrick and Edith (Lockhart) Dickson. Havelock was raisedand educated in Chelsea, Mass., and was a graduate of the Chelsea High SchoolClass of 1936. He was the loving husband of the late Genevieve (Rusczyk)Dickson.Havelock was a proud and decoratedmember of the U.S. Army, and recipient of the Purple Heart as a member of the351 Regt. 88th Division 15th Air Corps during World War II. After the military,Havelock worked for nearly 40 years in operations for Grossman's of Quincy andBraintree, Mass. After retirement from Grossman's, Havelock drove a school busfor the Town of Rockland, Mass., from 1981–1993.Havelock loved baseball andenjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He also was an avidwoodworker and enjoyed the peaceful environment in Naples, where he would keepthe birdfeeders full of food so he could watch the birds and squirrels from theliving room. He was active in the Naples community and could be foundfrequently strolling downtown in the summers, even at 100 years of age.Havelock stayed active andrecently enjoyed his 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends at a partyby the ocean in Falmouth, Maine.A loving father, grandfather, andgreat-grandfather, Havelock's family includes his son Kenneth Dickson of EastBridgewater, Mass., and his children Doris and Marjorie (great-grandsonAlexander); his daughter Jeanne Minehan of Whitman and her children Mianne andAmy; his son Keith Dickson and his wife, Patricia, of Bedford, N.H., and theirchildren Brett (with great-grandsons Brady and Bennett), Jeffrey, and Michelle;his son Kevin Dickson of Londonderry, N.H., and his children Cameron, Kyle, andJustin.
